Setup. Each player gets 6 cards and discards 2 to the dealer's "crib".
Starter. A starter card is cut. If it's a Jack → dealer pegs 2 ("his heels").
Pegging. Take turns playing one card each, keeping a running total ≤ 31. Score for 15, 31, pairs (2), triples (6), quads (12), runs (length). If you can't play under 31, say "Go" — opponent pegs 1.
Show. Each player scores their 4 cards + starter: 15s (2 each), runs (length), pairs (2 each), flush of 4 (4) or 5 (5), "nobs" (J of starter's suit in hand = 1).
Crib. The dealer scores the crib (4 cards + starter) by the same rules.
v1 note. This version plays a single hand, not the full race to 121. Hand-tracking through pegging is simplified.
